Lacking In Blogtegrity

I seem to go through this every so often…something (or nothing, in this case) drains me of the will to update my own blog, thus neglecting the ol’ girl.  For those of you that came by to only see an ugly picture of the late Apache Plaza time and again, I apologize.

A few things:

  1. Blogger flamewars are stupid.  But, apparently, a good way to drum up site hits (thus, no links to the actual wars).
  2. Michele Bachmann is still bat-shit crazy.
  3. Rightists are still in self-destruct mode.
  4. The MSM’s still cracked.

You know the rest…obviously war and poverty don’t need links or lengthy pontification.  They’re bad, and they aren’t going away anytime soon.

Plenty of you know that I’ve been out of work for about a month, and I’m just taking it easy for now.  I feel like I’ve been pretty upbeat about the whole thing…mostly since I’m kind of numbed from it happening to me often enough in my short working life.  I got a severance and will soon be able to collect unemployment.  It’ll be fine.

Back to reality…

Is Hilda Solis Hilda Solis’ husband?

(via Think Progress)

Rep. Hilda L. Solis’ nomination vote has been delayed by the Senate committee in charge of vetting her for the secretary of labor position in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet.

The delay was announced moments after USA Today reported that Solis’ husband had recently paid off $6,400 in tax liens on an auto shop he owns in Los Angeles.

These petty fucks have no reason to object to her, so they lean towards one of the most business-friendly, pie-chart shagging Stenographs that are employed by USA Today.

Oh, and *shudder*, she tepidly supports the EFCA.  Thanks for looking like petulant children yet again, GOP.

From the NYT:

“That is pretty draconian — $500,000 is not a lot of money, particularly if there is no bonus,” said James F. Reda, founder and managing director of James F. Reda & Associates, a compensation consulting firm. “And you know these companies that are in trouble are not going to pay much of an annual dividend.”

Mr. Reda said only a handful of big companies pay chief executives and other senior executives $500,000 or less in total compensation. He said such limits will make it hard for the companies to recruit and keep executives, most of whom could earn more money at other firms.

“It would be really tough to get people to staff” companies that are forced to impose these limits, he said. “I don’t think this will work.”

Of course, he’s referring to Obama’s plan to “curb” executive compensation at companies who received TARP funds.

The nerve.
